Village Proclamation - Robert Rockwell Day
March 28, 2025

Village of Clinton

Proclamation

WHEREAS, in the Village of Clinton on this day, March 28, 2025, we bear witness to the retirement of our Department of Public Works & Water Superintendent Robert Rockwell.

WHEREAS, from the tender age of 19 till today, ROCK has worked tirelessly and consecutively for this fine Village.

WHEREAS, ROCK has endured all manner of natural disasters from blizzards, floods, microbursts, hail, occasional sunshine, continuous leaves and so on. Then there is the man made catastrophes ranging from sewer backups, broken water pipes,, erratic driving into hydrants, bad basements, argumentative property owners, disrespectful tenants, tree huggers, absentee landlords, green waste and big debris abusers.  The list goes on.

WHEREAS, ROCK’s knowledge and memory cannot be matched from when and what tree was planted to where the storm water pipes go and a million other village facts of a similar vein.

WHEREAS, ROCK, in service to this Village has never filed a government agency report late regardless of an extremely irrational schedule.

WHEREAS, few people other than ROCK could convince this Mayor to buy as much equipment year after year – so many shiny trucks.  He has trained her well!

WHEREAS, ROCK annually outdid himself with the holiday décor—as well as the lighting budget.  We all enjoyed it immensely.

WHEREAS, in one voice speaking on behalf of the entire Village, and for those that have worked with ROCK, he has made the way easy for us. The work was done professionally, on time without complaint. The beauty of the Village reflects it. The clean water flows.  The sewers run unimpeded, All is in its place, thanks to ROCK’s management and care.

NOW, THEREFORE, with the power invested in me, Mayor Elizabeth C. Tantillo, by the great state of New York, we recognize Robert Rockwell for his significant contributions to the Village of Clinton and mark today as

 Robert Rockwell Day

and urge all to join me and the Village Board in congratulating him on an outstanding career with the Village of Clinton and wishing him many years of happiness and good health.

PROCLAIMED this 28th day of March 2025.

Mayor, Village of Clinton

Village of Clinton and Oneida County Sheriff’s Office have entered into a partnership
March 15, 2025

The Village of Clinton and the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office have entered into a partnership to increase safety and law enforcement.  The Kirkland Police Department will still work on the Village’s behalf. We are grateful for their past and continued presence and support.

The Sheriff’s Office will focus on all law enforcement areas particularly the issue of speeding within the Village.  The speed limit is 30 mph in most of the Village and 15-20 mph around the school. Traffic studies would indicate those speed limits are not being followed.  Please take note, it is our hope that will not be the case in the future.

The Village is not doing it for the fines!  All the speeding fines go directly to Oneida County, the Village sees no fiscal benefit -- only safer streets.

In addition to monitoring the speed, parking, other road violations and general law enforcement will be addressed.

The Village Board of Trustees have worked diligently toward this agreement with Oneida County and believe this partnership will be beneficial for all. We welcome the Sherriff’s presence within the Village and look forward to a cooperative relationship for many years.
